Iefke de Roos
Definitely my favorite discovery at De Modefabriek, the sweet Iefke de Roos caught my eye with her cute dresses. At first sight they seemed to be printed, but Iefke was quick to point out she fashioned her own stamps in order to create a whole new fabric, exclusively for her collections. She also experiments with dye-techniques, with amazingly pretty results! Because she produces all of her clothes herself, the pieces are extremely limited edition. You're sure to be original when you walk around in one of Iefke's designs!
Her main source of inspiration is a scrapbook she keeps as a sort of diary. Starting from one particular inspirational item (a movie, music, a book,...) she gathers other items and pictures that eventually inspire her new collection.

Just take a look at her collection for summer 2008, Flowers in the Attic: it's fairytale-like but modern at the same time. A kind of romantic and nostalgic look that is easily combined with more casual items in order to achieve a sporty look. Needless to say, I love it!

Iefke de Roos only just graduated from the AMFI in Amsterdam in 2006, but in my view she is a rising star. Her collections are already for sale at the boutique Sky in Amsterdam, and hopefully she'll find a point of sale in Antwerp very soon.
