Brunch
I only recently discovered this new chocolate bar, amongst a string of chocolate bars that have seemed to pop up around the city in the last few months.
This ‘franchise’ has two locations around the city: one conveniently on Hopland and the other on the Kloosterstraat: two must-shop areas.
You can get a full, filling breakfast here for under 6€ with juice, coffee, bread and spreads, and a tasty pastry.
This giant Belgian patisserie is a landmark; you will be hard pressed to find a front room table at any given time of day. Luckily, the table service is quick.
Fries, unbeknownst to many, I have been told are not French but indeed Belgian in origin.
This is also a dinner place but I prefer to come here during daytime hours when the art nouveau setting can be best admired.
I love this place. I love the large, American-influenced menu (Starbucks-sized flavoured lattes, Caesar wraps, and burgers), the blankets that are scattered out on the patio for use in case you feel cold, and the fact that it is lime green.
This is probably the closest you will come to a Starbucks in the city (until the real one comes later this year) with even two locations within a 1-km radius, in true Starbucks style!
