I just got back from a preview of Véronique Branquinho's retrospective at the Momu. It is even better than I had expected. I already loved the A Magazine she curated, and after reading it I had high expectations of the exhibition.

Prepare to walk into the universe of one of Antwerp's most talented designers, who can look back on ten very successful years. The designer, now 34, states she doesn't want this exposition to feel like a 'fin de carrière' but rather as a turning point.

Together with the art collective Blitz (Oscar van de Boogaard, Steven Watermeulen and Sven Grooten), she turned the Momu into her own mysterious universe. Different rooms create different atmospheres, and at times you really feel like you get to look inside of Véronique's mind. Like in the space with the jukebox, where Branquinho chose different songs from her catwalk shows to represent different emotions. If you press 'Appetite', a sensual version of Sexual Healing starts playing.

It doesn't get more intimate than this, which is a rare thing for a designer so secluded and so distrusting of the media.

You can visit the exhibition from tomorrow until August 17.

xx Steph
