I just got back from the Glamour Stiletto Run in Antwerp, where around 40 ladies in high heels tried to get a spot in one of the three limousines, waiting to get them to Amsterdam. This afternoon, the semi-finalists will compete with hundreds of Dutch fashionista's to win the prize of the century: €10.000 of shopping money and a Coca Cola Light night on the town!

It was a sight to be seen. All those colorful women in their prettiest and highest heels, running as fast as they could on the cobblestone road ahead of them. No one fell, that I know of. There were no fights, when they got to the limousines (partly because nearly everyone who participated got to go...) The press was another story. Camera men, journalists, photographers, all were running around and in front of each other, trying to get the best possible story out of it. I stood and watched, but of course I want to let you in on the fun.

I filmed the finish of the contest: girls frantically trying to secure their seat in one of the limos...

You can also take a look at some of the pictures I took...

The pretty blonde (wearing the prettiest outfit of all, if you ask me) is Dutch actress Hannah Verboom, whom you might know from tv series De Co-assistent or something like that. She's even prettier in real life, rather intimidating, though she was super nice to everyone. There was a guy holding a banner which said "Stiletto race for men, no fun!" and nobody understood exactly what he wanted to say. Did he want to participate? Or is he just saying there should never be a race for men? Or was he just confused when he included the symbol for men on his banner? Who knows...

The winners of the pre-round are now on their way to Amsterdam, and I sincerely hope one of our Antwerp delegates gets to take home the big prize!

xx Steph

UPDATE: Apparently, the guy with the banner had tried to dress himself up as a girl and participate in the contest for VTM show Zoom, but wasn't allowed to do so. That's why his banner states: Stiletto run, no fun for men". Ah well, we're sure there's plenty of opportunities in Antwerp to go and dress up as a girl, banner-boy. On another note, an Antwerp girl won the prize for Best Shoes. She had on red satin peeptoe pumps from Zara, with a little red bow. She had customized them herself by adding red ribbons that went up her ankles. (I have those same shoes in black -though uncustomized- so I'm feeling a little proud myself). The 21 years old Marieke Westenenk wins a free pair of shoes a month for one year (sponsored by Sacha). Nice!
