Now this is a bit of history I wouldn't have minded being taught in high school. Did you know the famous sportswear company Adidas was founded by family members? Brothers, actually, who launched their sportswear dream during World War II. Then one brother tricked the other into having to go fight in Poland. Needless to say, this resulted in one pissed off brother, who decided to launch his own brand upon returning to Germany: Puma.

All of a sudden, the brothers were rivals, and their feud divided the town into two teams. Team Adidas vs Team Puma. This fight would later divide the entire world, as the two companies started recruiting as many athletes and celebrities as possible to wear their shoes. The real reason why the Olympics are such a marketing driven event these days, is because of two German brothers fighting.

The story of Adolf and Rudolf Dassler is recounted by Dutch journalist Barbara Smit. Her book Sneaker Wars: The Enemy Brothers Who Founded Adidas and Puma and the Family Feud should be on the list of every serious fashionista, who claims their love for fashion is not limited to going shopping every other day.
