GQ's Best Dressed
Daniel Craig was named best dressed man for the second year in a row by my favourite magazine GQ. An international panel of judges placed Craig on top of a list that includes photo-friendly celebrities like David Beckham, Jude Law and Prince Harry. And who am I to dispute this? Craig is the epitome of a man not so blessed in the looks department who totally makes up for it with his slick style. ‘Monkey face’, as the media dare to call him, carries off his roughness very gracefully and with lots of suave. On the red carpet he is as much of a star as his fellow gowned-up fashionistas, with cameras and mics buzzing around him, trying to get a designer’s name. And that name is practically always the same. Craig is an avid fan of Tom Ford and seeing how he wears his suits, I don’t think the ex-Gucci wunderkind could wish for better publicity to get his own label off the ground. Hell, it might even be the reason why after 12 years of Brioni, James Bond will be wearing Tom Ford in the next movie.

I know it’s a guy thing and it probably also has something to do with youth sentiment, but James Bond is my all-time favourite guilty pleasure when it comes to mindless, popcorn cinema. It is so over-stylized, so breezy and stuck in a predictable pattern, and still I can’t help but love it. A lot was said when Daniel Craig took over from Pierce Brosnan, but whoever gave Casino Royale a chance must acknowledge that the Bond franchise is taking the high(er) road in both content and style. I can’t wait till Quantum of Solace comes out. But in the meantime I have this little site to keep me high in product placement heaven. Here you can buy the infamous, blue La Perla swim trunks or Ian Fleming’s signature scent, Floris No. 89. Oh why is it that I’m so impressionable when it comes to high-prized commercial products?
