Ackermann latest rumoured replacement at Margiela

We do not know if Margiela has even left his label for sure, as no one outside his circle knows what he looks like nor does he speak to the media except through his collective 'Maison', but after months of retirement rumours, everyone from Raf Simons to now Haider Ackermann has been reported his replacement.

It is a role, however, many designers would likely shy away from, in truth. Filling the shoes of one of the industry's most prophetic designers is not an appealing challenge for most.

Although, Ackermann, in a recent interview with T Magazine, seemed to welcome such a challenge. 'You have your own repertoire, to which you are attached, but sometimes you have something else to say, and the code of another house might help you do that. I would love to share another aesthetic, but it would have to be the right house. And the right timing.’

Not exactly a denial.

Aesthetically, it would be a good match, I think. Ackermann's clothes are indeed less provoking, but he seems to share Margiela's intellectual approach to structure.

It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it! Hopefully, we'll find out who, soon enough. For now, Ackermann's the top candidate.
