Dries racking up awards overseas!
Last year, Dries Van Noten took home the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) award for International Designer of the Year, handed over by fellow Belgian and CFDA president Diane Von Furstenburg, nonetheless, and Thursday he was honoured stateside again, this time by the Couture Council of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
Maggie Gyllenhal, a red carpet Dries devotee, was the bearer of good news.
But don't think this (much-deserved) recognition has gone to his head; no, Dries is widely reputed here in Antwerp to be down-to-earth and ego-free.
Never to be confused by his often loud prints and bold use of colour, Dries is soft-spoken and humble in the few interviews he has partaken.
See for yourself when New York Magazine's fashion director, Harriet Mays Powell, stopped by for a chat at FIT...
