Beauty Lab: Citrus Bodylotions
The weather outside is frightful, but the citrus scent in my bathroom is so delightful! I've tested two body lotions that smell like sweet lemonade and fresh lemons. Just what I needed to get that kick in the morning!
I love a body lotion that smells delicious. I find that a nice aroma can work reviving, especially when I apply the lotion after I've taken a shower. It's the moment when you want to feel fresh and ready to take on the world, whether you're going out to work or to party.
I found that the Wellments Lemongrass Body Lotion smelled the most like lemons. It's almost as if someone has put some freshly scraped lemon zest in the bottle. The lotion contains essential oils of orange, lemon and bergamot, so that's why the scent is so intense. Not annoying though, just really refreshing.
What else is in there? Well, there's jojoba oil, always a guarantee for leaving your skin feeling supersoft. The lotion was easily absorbed by my skin, a big plus because I'm always on the go and I really don't have time to sit around and wait for my lotion to dry. Wellments furthermore is a Belgian cosmetics line and is part of the Ecover company, known for its all-natural approach. Wellments therefore is a member of the BDIH, which controls natural cosmetics brands.
I was very curious to try out the Dr. Hauschka body lotion, since I'm a big fan of this brand. The Lemon Body Moisturizer has a lighter texture than the Wellments lotion, and definitely smells like mojito's. This might have something to do with my undying love for that cocktail, but needless to say, I fell in love with the Dr. Hauschka lotion. It's very refreshing, and not greasy at all.
What else is in there? Sage and hawthorne extracts, apparently, that are meant to revitalize, purify and fortify the skin. Pure olive and jojoba oil take care of moisturizing and protecting your skin. The brand is 100% natural, making the most of plant extracts to create new products. No synthetics, no animal testing, and also a member of the BDIH.
Wellments is available at all Essenza stores, and in selected bioshops. The Lemongrass body lotion sells at about €14.
Dr. Hauschka is for sale at bioshops, but also at the new Cosmeticary in Antwerp, so definitely a good reason to check it out! The Lemon Body Lotion sells at €18,25.
It's gonna be a lemony spring!
