Luxury just got a new name… It’s called C16 and it comes in 50ml bottles at a €160 price. Parisian perfumer Francis Kurkdjian created an exclusive line of fragrances, based on historical formulas with rare and delicate ingredients. Indult resurrects the scents of the old European aristocracy and literally means ‘the privileges one receives from a king or a pope’. To grasp the same air of stature, Tonkin musk was placed at the heart of C16, an ingredient that used to be worth twice as much as gold. Together with some other expensive musks it formed a meticulously balanced molecular structure of 16 carbon atoms (Get it? C16?).

To raise the exclusivity bar even more, the fragrance is sold through French boutique Colette and offered to a mere 231 registered members. Only the people who bought the perfume can re-order it. It comes with a membership card and everything, and the privilege lasts for the rest of your life. C16 is said to come very close to the ultimate smell, an almost human odour of warmed up skin. Anyone who has seen the movie or read the book ‘Perfume’ by Patrick Süskind must now be either fascinated or grossed out, because you know what happens to the people around the guy with the ultimate perfume…
