Spotlight on: Charlotte Olympia

If Nicholas Kirkwood is the new Georgina Goodman, then Charlotte Olympia is the new Nicholas Kirkwood.

All three are British, and Kirkwood has edged Goodman as the 'of-the-moment' choice collaborator of design houses, such as Rodarte, and Hollywood foot protector.

But while Kirkwood's sky-high stilettos caught our attention, it is Olympia's towering wedges that have been picked up by style-setting retailers Dover Street Market and Browns.

And, as you know, wedges are my vertically-challenged stature's saving grace. So, when I saw these striped versions, I fell hard.

Inspired by old Hollywood, each shoe features the signature gold spiderweb on the sole, a marking shared by another red-soled marketing genius.
